Richmond Rolls Out Bike Share Program

On a rainy day last Tuesday, August 29 Richmond rolled out its new "RVA Bike Share" program.  Two hundred and twenty bikes are docked at 20 stations around the central downtown area.  Two new stations will be operational at VCU soon.

Mayor Levar Stoney touted RVA Bike Share as a low-cost, environmentally-friendly way for tourists and locals to explore the city.

"We want to be a place that no matter who you are, what neighborhood you come from, that you can have a high quality of life in the city of Richmond, and this provides that," Stoney said.

Bikes equipped with pedal assist (E-Bikes), which gives riders an extra boost when needed, will be added in the coming months. Williamsburg is currently exploring various options for bike sharing.
