Monticello Avenue Bike Facilities

The City of Williamsburg hosted a road design charrette at a public meeting to gather input on design features for the Monticello Avenue Streetscape Improvements project which is planned for construction in fiscal year 2019-20.

The public meeting was held on September 6, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the Stryker Center, 412 N. Boundary Street.

The City's design firm, Kimley-Horn Inc, led a discussion and sought input from the public with assistance from city staff.

Design elements for public input include:

  • Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations
  • Landscaping
  • Lighting
  • On street parking
  • Street furniture
  • Street markings
  • Vehicular travel lanes

The road improvements are being done in conjunction with the Monticello Shopping Center redevelopment. "We encourage citizens to attend the charrette and provide ideas and suggestions," says Michele Mixner DeWitt, the City's Economic Development Director. "Everything from trees to street lighting will be discussed."
