Imagine a Multi-Use Trail

If all goes well, by October 2018 our imagination will be reality! The City of Williamsburg is constructing a ¾ mile trail from Treyburn Drive to Ironbound Road along the south side of Monticello Avenue. The 10’ wide paved trail will have lights and be 20 feet off the road. This trail will extend our growing network of off-road trails – this one making a critical connection between the College and New Town. The $1.25 million project is funded by VDOT (80%), City of Williamsburg (10%), and William & Mary (10%). Dan Clayton, Director of Public Works and Utilities, estimated the design phase would take nine months and the construction six months.  The College is seeking additional funding for improved bike facilities along Compton Drive between Monticello and Kaplan Arena to complete the connection.
