Cycling Without Age Successfully Launched

A joint project of the Williamsburg Area Bicyclists (WAB) and Bike Walk Williamsburg (BWW), Cycling without Age is designed to provide the elderly and those with limited mobility the opportunity to experience the joy of riding by using trishaws.  A trishaw is a three-wheeled cycle with a bench seat that can hold up to two passengers.

Cycling without Age launched in Williamsburg in June this year with live music, a raffle, and of course trishaw demos at Billsburg Brewery. Then, during the summer into the fall, Cycling Without Age offered weekday rides on Jamestown Island and the Virginia Capital trail to local continuing care retirement communities.

An international program that began in 2012 in Copenhagen Denmark, Cycling Without Age is now in over 1000 affiliates in 38 countries, including our own Williamsburg, VA. It’s made possible through the efforts of volunteers and the generosity of donors. If you’re interested in volunteering or for more information, contact BWW at 757-810-3102 or email us at info@bikewalkwilliamburg.org.
