Celebrate May is National Walking Month by putting on your walking shoes and exploring Williamsburg by foot! Three suggested routes. Choose where you start! Choose your distance!

  • Points of Interest throughout the walk let you learn about local history and culture.

  • Music, food and drink at restaurants along the way , and the camaraderie of  fellow walkers all combine for an active fun day.

  • Mary’s Walk Williamsburg is free but donations are welcome to support the programs of BikeWalk Williamsburg 501 (c)(3) and the Williamsburg Community Foundation

What: 

An outdoor community-wide walking event for all ages emphasizing walking for health, active transportation, the environment – and fun! This is a “walk at your own pace, start any time, start anywhere” fun walk, not a race. All ages can participate. Distances from  1 to 10 miles.

There will be entertainment, garden visits, food and refreshment, and other activities along the route. Walkers will experience special places easily accessed by foot in the central Williamsburg area.

Where:        

Participants can start at any point and walk any portion of the three routes. Together, the three routes comprise a figure “8” with Merchant’s Square in the middle.

Map 1 is the Downtown Williamsburg Loop (3.5 Miles) encompassing the College of William and Mary and Colonial Williamsburg.

Map 2 is the William and Mary, Midtown Row, and New Town Loop (3.3 or 5.7 Miles).

Map 3 is Colonial Williamsburg and The Edge District (5.1 Miles).

We recommend the purchase of a Good Neighbor Pass to access the many attractions in Colonial Williamsburg.

This pass ($35) valid for one year will allow entrance to the Governor’s Palace Gardens, particularly beautiful in the Spring.

Purchase the Good Neighbor Pass at the Lumber House #22 on Duke of Gloucester Street.

Registration:

We ask participants to register online and sign a Release Form. You will receive a Ticket which will entitle you to discounts at our Sponsors along the route.

Cost:

Free!  Donations Welcome! All funds raised will be shared between BikeWalk Williamsburg and the Mary Turnbull Bike & Walk Fund at the Williamsburg Community Foundation.
